40 HOUR HAZWOPER TRAINING

This course is designed to satisfy requirements under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's 29 CFR 1910.120 regulation for individuals involved in hazardous waste operations and emergency response. Individuals who fall under the requirements for this training include:

  1. Employees, supervisors, and management personnel who work at a hazardous waste site where cleanup operations are underway, or individuals who deal in hazardous waste environments and are exposed to contaminant wastes above the permissible exposure limits (PEL) for various chemicals.
  2. Employees who may respond to emergency situations at hazardous waste sites shall be trained in proper response procedures for and protection from, hazardous exposures.

  2. Department of Transportation Requirements
  3. Hazard Recognition
  4. Monitoring
  5. Respiratory Protection
  6. Personal Protective Equipment
  7. Hazard Evaluation
  8. Medical Surveillance
  9. Safety and Health Programs
  10. Work Practices (including decontamination)
  11. General Safety On-site (OSHA Regulations)
  12. Emergency Response/Limited Rescue Techniques

This course also includes a hands-on component, which will give the student a more realistic view of emergency response procedures discussed previously in the week. Tabletop scenarios and problem solving exercises will be interspersed throughout the week. A passing score of 70% is required on the final exam. Upon successful completion of this course, student will receive certificates and photo identification cards. The course Includes a manual, a test, and a certificate.

Duration: Five 8 Hour days
