LEAD ASSESSMENTS

OSHA regulates exposures to hazardous materials including lead in the general industry standard 29 CFR 1910.1025 and the construction standard 29 CFR 1926.62.  Evaluating lead risks in public and commercial buildings requires an assessment of painted surfaces.  This assessment usually involves material sampling and analysis of chips or dust on surfaces.

Under the construction standard for lead, an employer must perform an initial exposure assessment to gauge lead exposure risks on each job activity conducted by the contractor.  Should the air monitoring determine that lead inhalation risks exist, personal protection must be implemented and, depending upon the level of exposure, medical monitoring may be warranted.

DeLisle routinely performs these assessments in public and commercial environs and upon completion of testing and analysis, generates technical reports complete with conclusions and recommendations for engineering controls where applicable.
